Coaxial swirl injector element first tests

We performed first low cost and low pressure tests of our coaxial swirl injector element designs to further validate proper propellants mixing prior to fabrication of our full thrust chamber.
Sometimes the low-cost scrappy way to perform testing is the way to go. We borrowed a bit here from the mindset we had back from when we were working on engines before in student rocketry teams.
With only some 3D printing, food dye, and regular household water supply we helped validate our coaxial swirl injector elements design of our RELIANT engine prior to manufacturing the real thing. These tests are far from the real working pressure of our real engine’s injector and have different geometry, but these very low cost tests help validate our modelling and CFD simulations of the real thing and give us confidence in the mixing ability of our real design.
